Balboa Park symbolizes San Diego
San Diego’s vision has been embodied for over 135 years by Balboa Park. Here we find our city’s cultural center, with museums, theatres, dance groups, garden clubs, recreational leagues, civic organizations, and the World Famous San
Diego Zoo. With over 1200 acres of culture, recreation and natural beauty, Balboa Park is one of the largest urban parks in the country. On average, over 36,000 people use Balboa Park every day.
Preserving the Park’s future
With so many visitors annually, preservation of the Park’s grounds, buildings and infrastructure are extremely challenging to maintain. The City of San Diego Park and Recreation Department does a commendable job, however, city budgets and staff have been shrinking while Park attendance has skyrocketed.
The future of Balboa Park rests in all of our hands. Join us in this gallant effort to preserve and protect this San Diego treasure, now and forever.
